We’re now in a lockdown and still many of our industry colleagues are using their creativity to think of ways to support each other and their clients. We continue to hear some really heart-warming stories that prove that our industry really does go above and beyond to help others in this time of need.
Education and nourishment for free school lunch children
The development chefs at one of our proactive suppliers are creating special hampers for school children who are in receipt of free school meals. Instead of just delivering ready-prepared “lunches”, they are providing ingredient packs that will occupy and educate the children as they make tailored recipes such as soups, breads and sweet treats. Not only will this help to fill their time, it will help them learn more about food and cooking.
Supporting key workers – an update
Over 200 personal accounts have been opened since the launch of our partner scheme to allow care home workers to order the food they need via their employer account – and have it delivered to their place of work. Feedback has been amazing and we applaud the wonderful suppliers that have eased this burden on some of our essential workers.
A safe place to stay
Another client, a hotel chain, has offered its staff free rooms to stay in if they are at risk of losing their current private accommodation due to financial hardship or if they need to separate themselves from self-isolating family members.
